Aged Care: CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care - 2012

» Course Description:

This qualification addresses work primarily in residential facilities within defined organisation guidelines and service plans. An Aged Care worker carries out activities related to maintaining an individual’s well being through personal care and/or other activities of living. Also provides services to individuals with complex needs, and/or work with groups of older people. This role may include training and support to promote independence and community participation, which may be provided as part of activities and programs in a variety of
settings including residential and centre-based programs.

» Essentials, Prerequisites: Students must been 15 years and over and hold a minimum Year 10 or equivalent qualification. Students must also be motivated, show an awareness of industry requirements and keenness to work in the industry. To gain entry into CHC40108 Certificate IV in Aged Care a candidate must be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following compulsory units from CHC30208 Certificate III in Aged Care (or equivalent): CHCAC318A Work effectively with older people CHCAC319A Provide support to people living with dementia CHCCS411A Work effectively in the community sector CHCICS303A Support individual health and emotional well being CHCPA301B Deliver care services using a palliative approach HLTAP301A Recognise healthy body systems in a health care context

» Pathways:

Work may include training and support to promote independence and community participation. This may be provided as part of activities and programs in a variety of settings including residential and center based programs. These people report to service managers and liaise with professionals and other service providers. You may also be required to supervise and/or coordinate a limited number of other workers.  People may go onto complete a Nursing Degree.

» Recognition of Prior Learning, Credit Transfers:

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Students wishing to apply for RPL need to indicate this on the Enrolment Form.  RPL Application Forms are available from the Course Co-ordinator. 

Credit Transfer:  Credit Transfer is the recognition and acknowledgment of modules or units of competency acquired through prior formal credentialed training (identical academic experience). Community College Gippsland grants Credit Transfer under our Mutual Recognition obligations.
