Aged Care: CHC30208 Certificate III in Aged Care - 2012

» Course Description:

Aged Care is one of the fastest growing industries in our region.  This course will provide knowledge and skills to provide care to residents in aged care, in both private homes and aged care facilities such as nursing homes, hostels and supported residential services. It also provides home care workers and personal care workers with a nationally recognised qualification. 

An Aged Care services worker provides services to aged people in order to maintain a state of health, well-being and independence appropriate to the aged person’s needs and desires. The units being studied will enable participants to respond appropriately to our communities needs.

» Essentials, Prerequisites: Entry requirements: Students must be 15 years and over with an equivalent level of Year 9. Selection of eligible students will be based on interview with the trainer and or co-ordinator of the program. You will be expected to have suitable language, literacy, numeracy and communication skills needed to undertake Certificate III in Aged Care and Certificate III in Home and Community Care. Students must also be motivated, show an awareness of industry requirements and keenness to work in the industry. All successful applicants will be required to undertake a police check at their own expense to meet workplace regulatory requirements.

» Pathways:

Potential jobs exist with public and private organizations such as aged care facilities and home care providers.  Students interested in further study after the completion of this course may go onto Certificate IV in Aged Care Work.

» Recognition of Prior Learning, Credit Transfers:

Students wishing to apply for RPL need to indicate this on the Enrolment Form.  RPL Application Forms are available from the Course Co-ordinator. 

Credit Transfer is the recognition and acknowledgment of modules or units of competency acquired through prior formal credentialed training (identical academic experience).
Community College Gippsland Ltd. grants Credit Transfer under our Mutual Recognition obligations.
