Children’s Services: CHC30708 Certificate III in Children Services - 2012

» Course Description: Make a positive and meaningful impact upon children’s lives from infants to 12 years. Learn how to assist higher-qualified staff in the provision of education programs and quality care for children, within Children’s Services settings including: Centre-based Care - Occasional Care - Out of School Hours Care - Family Day Care.

» Course Notes: Additional Information: Police Checks are required for working in Children’s Services. Students must obtain a current check prior to commencing work experience. It is recommended that you contact your local doctor to be advised about immunizations appropriate for working in Children’s Services. Participants are also required to complete 140 hours of work placement. Assessment: assessments will take place for each unit using assessment tools and three different assessment methods which could include; observation, demonstration, written questions, verbal questioning, port- folio, assignment or workplace assessment

» Essentials, Prerequisites: Entry requirements: Students must been 16 years and over. Selection of eligible students will be based on interview with the trainer and co-ordinator of the program. Students must also be motivated, show an awareness of industry requirements and keenness to work in the industry. No academic pre requisites for this course, but the expectation are that students will have achieved an educational level that will enable them to achieve course objectives. Students will need a minimum Year 8 or equivalent qualification.

» Pathways:

Employment opportunities after completing the course may include; Child Care Assistant Level II, Parent Educator, Support Worker.  Students interested in further study after the completion of this course may go onto the Diploma of Community Services (Children’s Services).
