Enter an industry that has the largest number of employees in Australia – Retail.  This entry level course offers opportunities in a vibrant industry which covers various fields including retailing, pharmacy, motor vehicles, food or even personal goods, just to name a few.  There will never be a dull moment with this broad range of career opportunities to choose from.

» Essentials, Prerequisites: Students will need a minimum Year 8 or equivalent qualification. Students must been 15 years and over. Students must also be motivated, show an awareness of industry requirements and keenness to work in the industry. No academic pre-requisites for this course, but the expectation are that students will have achieved an educational level that will enable them to achieve course objectives.

» Pathways:

Certificate II in Retail has been designed as the standard entry level qualification for the retail industry. It applies to those wishing to develop the skills and knowledge to begin a career in the retail industry. Likely functions within the retail industry for those who achieve this level of qualification include working within clearly defined contexts and under supervision. It involves interacting with customers, performing stock control, operating point of sale equipment, balancing the register and minimizing theft.
Students interested in further study after the completion of this course may go onto Certificate III Retail.

» Recognition of Prior Learning, Credit Transfers:

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): Students wishing to apply for RPL need to indicate this on the Enrolment Form.  RPL Application Forms are available from the Course Co-ordinator. 

Credit Transfer:  Credit Transfer is the recognition and acknowledgment of modules or units of competency acquired through prior formal credentialed training (identical academic experience).
Community College Gippsland grants Credit Transfer under our Mutual Recognition obligations.
