» Course Description:
Certificate III in Beauty Services develops skills and knowledge of those employees who wish to gain employment as a beauty practitioner in a salon with limited supervision, ensuring a safe working environment, providing treatments, including lash and brow treatments and temporary epilating.
You will be able to specialize in make-up for photography or camouflage. You will also study how to demonstrate retail skin care products and learn how to communicate and work effectively in a business environment.
Students will be prepared to perform routine salon/store functions and also demonstrate skin care products. Students will adapt at designing and applying make-up in general and in specialist situations
» Course Notes: Students are required to wear a uniform and closed toe shoes while attending class. Students will receive one uniform top but will need to supply black uniform pants and MUST wear closed toe shoes. This is a code of practice for the Community College Gippsland Ltd all Certificate III Beauty Services students must apply by this code of practice. If students do not apply by this code of practices they will be asked to leave class and return in appropriate uniform. Students MUST attend course daily with make-up applied and hair must be tied back at all times and minimal jewelry is to be warn. Students are to complete 100hrs work placement in a Beauty Salon. Participate in the Annual Hair and Beauty Competition will be a requirement of the relevant unit assessment. The Annual Hair and Beauty Competition will be held on Thursday evening, the 25th October 2012. Students will need to supply models for some of the training, trainer will advise when models will be required. Community College Gippsland hold an annual Hair and Beauty Competition, all Hair and beauty Students MUST enter at least one section of the competition.

» Essentials, Prerequisites: Students must have basic computer skills to achieve course assessments. Students must be 15 years and over. Students must also be motivated, show an awareness of industry requirements and keenness to work in the industry.
» Pathways:
On completion of Certificate III Beauty services students may continue on to further study in the Diploma of Beauty Therapy. Students may gain an apprenticeship or continue onto tertiary training.
» Recognition of Prior Learning, Credit Transfers:
Students wishing to apply for RPL need to indicate this on the Enrolment Form. RPL Application Forms are available from the Course Co-ordinator.
Credit Transfer is the recognition and acknowledgment of modules or units of competency acquired through prior formal credentialed training (identical academic experience).
Community College Gippsland Ltd. grants Credit Transfer under our Mutual Recognition obligations.
